About Author Mike Day

As a child growing up in Chicago, Mike’s mother took him on frequent visits to the city's magnificent cultural institutions; the Museum of Science & Industry, Adler Planetarium, and the Field Museum of Natural History.

After graduation from the University of Illinois he was awarded a New York State Arts Council grant to study museum management at the Rochester Museum & Science Center in upstate New York. Following, he was recruited to join the staff of the Science Museum of Minnesota in Saint Paul where he served as Executive Producer of documentary films made in the IMAX® film format.

His book, The World Has a Big Backyard, provides the exhilarating chronicles of his lifelong world travels, and will educate and entertain readers, inspire their next adventure, and share tips to help address the unpredictability, uncontrollability, and anxiety that comes with traveling to new and distant places.
